Manufacturing takes place at the factory. Orders are booked in and from offices, or at the stockist. Despatch takes place from the depot or stockist go down. However, it is at the construction site that the TMT bar is worked on, installed and fastened, and where its eventual performance has to prove itself. This is the reason the site is so important for a leading TMT brand serving the construction sector. The practical values are delivered and evaluated at the site, and that’s where strong beliefs are formed that stay on in customers’ minds.
At Icon Steels, even as we upgrade our manufacturing practices, and use IT for dealer management and for transport logistics, we are keenly aware that the customer is at the centre of our business. The highest quality products from the factory need proper handling and application at the site. They need technical support. And it is an opportunity for a leader brand to be visible at the site, to show its confidence, and to serve the customer at their project site.
TRUST IS WON THROUGH ASSISTING CUSTOMERS
At Icon Steels, we have been among the early brands to supply factory-made stirrups, to offer Cut and Bend services, and to start a fleet of vans for On Site Technician Support. These timely steps help in spreading the correct knowledge of product handling, and save project time for the customer. Importantly, it makes a better first-hand brand experience for the customer and their project personnel, and translates into a robust long-term performance of the TMT Bars in the structure.
To improve practices at the site, we also organise periodic training sessions for Steel Masons. These are part of our groundwork to promote an approach that gets the most performance value from our products, while working with speed and efficiency.
BEST RESULTS COME FROM RIGHT HANDLING
We are well aware that even the way the bars are stacked at the construction site plays a role, and for all the care in manufacturing to result in enduring strength of the structure, we have to show our commitment at the customer end, namely the project site. We have a trained Technician team who visit customers to guide them on site, especially on aspects like bendability and placing of stirrups. Such a multi-level interaction contributes to brand reputation week after week, and in district after district – it creates credibility and trust because it is about putting the product into use in the correct way. At Icon Steels, we believe much in getting it right on the work site!
